Where I Wanna Be
Nick Barker

Day 23 - A song that you want to play at your wedding

So for this I have a story! Valentines Day is also my sister’s birthday so that always takes precedence to any romantic celebrations. It was Selina and my first ‘Valentines Day’ since we started going out 10 months prior and my family and Selina all went to see Nick Barker play.

As has been mentioned in my father and I have changed from lifelong fans to friends with Mr Barker. But anyway it was a wonderful show. Afterwards my dad went off to talk to Nick and came back with a CD for Selina. It said on it “To Selina, Nathan is a lucky boy - Nick Barker”. My dad actually brought a piece of paper to the gig with Selina’s name on it to make sure the spelling was right (Nick did the rest). Apparently when dad mentioned to Nick that she was my girlfriend he also made comments along the lines of “wow, he’s done well” which lead to the signature. I am punching above my weight. But yes this is the reasons why. I have a wonderful girlfriend, a wonderful father and an impecible taste in music (if I do say so myself; which I do) and they all came together in this song. The song is “Where I Wanna Be” from the album Black Water Blues.

Day 19 (shh) - A song from your favorite album

Not necessarily my favourite album but a bloody good one. The Who - Love Reign O’er Me from the album Quadrophenia. I saw the movie first, and it is one of my favourite movies. Then I downloaded the album and I was absolutely obsessed with it one to two years ago. It’s actually the only Who album I like.

Day 14 - A song that no one would expect you to love

Hey look I just skipped many days so seamlessly no-one would ever know. I shall do the few good ones now. This is Little Birdy. I friggen love Little Birdy. I’ve had a crush on Katy Steele since I was about 13. There is something about a beautiful woman with an even more beautiful voice (hence I’m with Selina (smooth save Nathan)). This song is Brother and as much as the film clip suggests otherwise, that is the legendary Paul Kelly on backing vocals.
